2nd  Bangladesh Youth IGF of BTRC and BIGF concluded Dhaka Saturday, August 27, 2022, The Bangladesh Youth IGF came to an end with the participation of Internet experts at home and abroad for the 6th time. A two-day Bangladesh YIGF was held at the joint initiative of the Bangladesh Telecommunication Regulatory Commission (BTRC) and Bangladesh Internet Governance Forum (BIGF) at CIRDAP Auditorium. BTRC Director General of Systems and Services Brigadier General Md. Nasim Parvez, NDC was present as the Chief Guest while at the closing ceremony.

Brigadier General Md. Nasim Parvez, NDC mentioned the BTRC has introduced “one country one rate” tariffs to attract foreign investment by increasing coordination among ISPs. Protect the interests of local and marginal broadband Internet customers. Although the number of mobile internet users, in general, is higher, broadband internet users account for 58 percent of the country’s total bandwidth.
BTRC is implementing broadband connectivity in telecommunication disadvantaged areas, digitization of education system in government primary schools in disadvantaged areas, expansion of telecommunications, mobile technology and internet-based digital postal service projects in remote, coastal areas. Haor and hilly areas, satellite network projects in island areas, the establishment of high-speed mobile broadband networks in haors and islands and telecommunication expansion activities for underprivileged people in haor and remote areas. He hoped that development initiatives would ensure development connectivity in Bangladesh.

The second Bangladesh Youth IGF ended on Saturday with the joint initiative of BTRC and BIGF expressing their commitment to include the youth of villages outside the capital Dhaka in internet administration. The participants expressed their intention to establish Bangladesh as a truly smart Bangladesh in the world in 2041 by establishing Good Governance, Smart Citizen, Smart Government, Smart Society and Smart Economy by using emerging technologies like IoT, Blockchain, Data Mining and Data Governance through the participation of all the youth. The organizers said that the next IGF will be held in Mymensingh or any district outside Dhaka. This program will be spread at the district level.

The Chief Guest was Brigadier General Nasim Parvez, Focal Point of UN IGF Bangladesh and Director General of BTRC. Emphasizing on bridging the digital divide in his speech, he said BTRC is now working as a facilitator. Apart from creating policies to spread the Internet, Alor has come forward to do more for the youth of the country. We want to go a long way with BD Sig, Youth AGF, Women IGF and Kids IGF.
He also said that now Nepal and Pakistan have expressed interest in innovative solutions like our NEIR. We have also been able to meet the target set by the UN Broadband Commission to keep broadband spending below 2 percent of per capita income by 2025. We have removed the urban-rural disparity in the implementation of one country, one rate. As a result, among 190 countries in the world, Bangladesh is eighth behind in terms of data cost. However, if the internet price is made free, it will be a waste.

Internet Basic Need
Amberin Reza said, Internet connects everyone. Therefore, there is no alternative to empowering the youth to ensure that the Internet is safe and healthy. It is a basic need like food. By utilizing these two facilities, ‘HomeSafe’ has been developed in 64 districts of the country. Youngsters are enriching themselves economically through freelance riding. Facebook wastes 33 percent of time

Safe Internet saves 10 percent of the Internet
