The Bangladesh Telecommunication Regulatory Commission (BTRC), the Ministry of Post, Telecommunications and Information Technology, the Aspire to Innovate (a2i) of ICT Division and Cabinet Division Bangladesh in partnership with the Alliance for Affordable Internet {A4AI) is developing a new Broadband Policy for Bangladesh.
Bangladesh Telecommunication Regulatory Commission (BTRC), the Ministry of Post, Telecommunications and Information Technology, the Aspire to Innovate (a2i) of ICT Division and Cabinet Division Bangladesh in partnership with the Alliance for Affordable Internet {A4AI) have organized day long Consultation Workshop on Bangladesh Broadband Policy 2022 with the theme of Broadband ICT Infrastructure, Services, Connectivity, on February 23, 2022 at Hotel Intercontinental, Dhaka, Bangladesh with the participation of prominent players from government, the private sector, civil society and development sectors to discuss a coordinated focus in addressing the shared goal of open, affordable, equal and meaningful broadband access and meaningful connectivity in Bangladesh.
This consultation was focused on assessing the state of broadband network connectivity needed for citizens to be able to access the Internet. The consultations will explore gaps in data and projections needed for underlying network and ICT infrastructure to deliver high quality and affordable broadband connectivity and services throughout Bangladesh with a five following Breakout Session.
(Group 1): Mobile broadband networks and services, (4G+/5G) (Group 2): Fixed Wired and Wireless Broadband, Networks and services (Group 3): Public Access Facilities and Community Networks (Group 4): Affordable Connectivity: Pricing and Subsidies (Group 5): Supporting infrastructure, cost-sharing infrastructure business models, sustainable and renewable energy sources.
AHM Bazlur Rahman, Chief Executive Officer of Bangladesh NGOs Network for Radio and Communication (BNNRC) has participated in the Consultation as a facilitator to the (Group 3): Public Access Facilities and Community Networks.
